"Schools, Jails, and Asylums: Your Ancestor’s Institutional Life"
by   Gena Philibert-Ortega

No matter who your ancestor was, chances are they interacted with at least one institution in their life. These records can help you tell the unique story of your ancestor’s life. What records exist for schools, jails, hospitals and asylums? In this presentation, our speaker will explore various types of institutional records, what they reveal about our ancestors, and where they can be found.

Gena has spoken to groups throughout the United States and Canada, as well as virtually to audiences worldwide on various subjects involving genealogy, women’s studies and social history. She is the author of hundreds of articles published in genealogy magazines including FGS Forum, APG Quarterly, Internet Genealogy, Family Chronicle and Family Tree Magazine, Gena also writes regularly for the GenealogyBank Blog and her own blogs.
